Farms have the worst grid and the best solar resource — which makes them the strongest case for storage in FNQ. Shorecan designs ag systems for pump sheds, dairies, irrigation, processing rooms and remote homesteads, both grid-tied and full off-grid.
Pump motors, vat refrigeration and irrigation aren't gentle loads. We size inverters and batteries for the actual start-up and continuous demand, not a sales brochure.
If you're losing power weekly or paying high pole-replacement quotes, off-grid is often cheaper, more reliable and gives you control over your own production.
We fly the property before quoting so the system actually fits — shed orientation, shading and cable runs are designed against the real site, not a satellite snapshot.
Locally owned, locally based, locally serviced. No FIFO crews, no waiting weeks for a tech.
Our Ravenshoe dairy farm build is a working example: full off-grid solar + Dyness Stack 100 battery + Deye three-phase inverter running the milking operation year-round with no diesel reliance. Live data is published on the case study page.
For irrigation, refrigeration and remote-pump sites, we typically pair a 10–30 kW solar array with a battery bank sized for the duty cycle. Even partial coverage of pumping load pays back fast at current electricity prices.
Real installs with live performance data.
Yes. Our Ravenshoe build runs an entire dairy off-grid, including vat refrigeration. Correct sizing is everything — get that right and there is no compromise vs grid.
Pumps are an excellent solar match because they run hardest in daylight. We've sized arrays specifically to follow irrigation cycles, with battery cover for after-hours top-ups.
Most working farms do — and we use three-phase Deye hybrid inverters for those sites. Single-phase platforms exist for smaller hobby farms and rural homesteads.
Yes. Federal STCs apply to systems up to 100 kW, including ag installs. Larger systems use LGCs. We handle the rebate calculation and paperwork as part of every quote.
